「美しい」とは、とても曖昧なことなのだと思います。
私にとって「美しい」という言葉には、なぜかいつもわからなさがつきまとうのです。美しいジュエリーを造りたいというよりは、むしろ「美しさ」を逸脱したものをこそ、造りたい。それは、自然の色や形がそのまま残った原石やバロックパール、また、建造物などが長い時間を経て朽ちていくような「変化する様」に惹かれる感覚と、近いものなのかもしれません。
ジュエリーには身につける人の中にある、独特の魅力を引き出す役割があると思います。そういったジュエリーと人との出合いには、「美しい」という言葉を超えたなにかが、スパークするのではないかと思っています。

"Beauty" Might Be a Very Ambiguous Matter
For me, the word "beauty" is always elusive somehow or other. In other words, I'd rather create jewelry that deviates from "beauty" than what is just beautiful.It may be close to the feeling that I get attracted to rough stones and baroque pearls which have their original colors and shapes of their nature, or to the beauty that lies within the process of things like buildings decay over time and change their appearance.
Jewelry can bring out unique charm of the person who wears it and I believe that the encounters between such jewelry with people can "spark" something that is more extraordinary than the word "beauty".
